María Cano

Chef at Voro** (Canyamel, Majorca, Spain)

María Cano and Álvaro Salazar make up the soul of Voro, where María gives its cuisine elegance and a delicate touch.

Born in Córdoba, it was her grandmother "Kika" who spiked her passion for cookery. She studied in Córdoba and Málaga and, after working as an intern in the kitchen in Choco * with Kisko García, she moved on to form part of his cookery crew. 

Her restlessness led her to travel to Brazil, where she worked for a year and gained an insight into the country's cuisine. In 2016 she began work at Argos in the port of Pollensa, and became Linares chef Álvaro Salazar’s right-hand woman. The twosome won a Michelin star, and also Chef of the Year at the 2018 Alimentaria fair.

In 2019 they opened the Voro restaurant in Canyamel (Majorca), where they earned their first Michelin star and a Repsol "Sol" distinction. Voro now has two Michelin stars and two Repsol distinctions.
